Frequently Asked Questions

What is the average waiting time for Radiology studies to be reported?

proRAD Medical Imaging aims to provide a 24-hour turnaround time for reporting from the time of scanning. If you have a patient that requires urgent attention, please let our admin staff know at the time of booking and provide us with your contact details. We will endeavour to complete the report within 1-4 hours and arrange a call-back to inform you directly of the findings.

Why do some Radiology studies take more than 24hrs to report?

At proRAD, some studies are reported by more than one doctor to ensure high accuracy in these studies e.g. Mammography or CT coronary angiogram (CTCA). For these studies, a 48-72 hr turnaround time may be expected to allow time for the second and occasionally third-reader assessment. In general however, if any critically urgent findings are discovered (e.g. critical coronary artery stenosis), these will be telephoned to you urgently at the time of the first read.

How do you ensure my patients will be safe at proRAD?

Our proRAD clinic is designed specifically with patient safety in mind, complete with postprocedure observation sub seating areas and resuscitation bay, fully equipped to manage anaphylaxis, heart attacks, strokes and other major incidents. At proRAD, a fully qualified and experienced Radiology Specialist doctor is always present on site, and some of our doctors are RANZCR accredited RADS (Radiology Anaphylaxis and Deteriorating Patient) certified practitioners. Every staff member is also trained with annual CPR and Anaphylaxis competency, and we undertake three monthly mini-simulations to maintain a high level of competence and quality at proRAD. Please ask any of our staff to explain our proRAD difference in ensuring patient safety.

Is there a Radiologist on site at proRAD?

There is always at least one Radiologist present on site at proRAD Medical Imaging, especially during procedures and at the time of any contrast examination e.g. CT scan.
